Funding Your Farm
Mon. August 15th from 6:30 - 8:00 PM CST
(Zoom Webinar)

Few farmers, especially beginning or socially disadvantaged farmers, have the knowledge and funding to get their farms started right away. Access to land, money for infrastructure, equipment, seed, and livestock all carry substantial price tags in the farming world.

Listen to our panel of farm funding experts discuss strategies for getting funding from both governmental and non-governmental sources! We will be joined by Jennifer Hashley, Project Director of New Entry, Adam Coulter, Resource Conservationist for the Webster County NRCS Office, and Abby Inglis, Executive Director of the Webster County FSA Office.

Millsap Farms Walk: Tomato Production
Weds. August 17th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM CST

Tomatoes are prone to several different pests and diseases. They can ripen unevenly, crack, become malformed, get scalded by the sun, and sometimes fail to produce fruit at all. Come walk and talk about the trials, tribulations, and tricks for growing tomatoes in the Ozarks.

No registration is necessary for this in person event, however selecting 'Going' on the Facebook event is helpful for planning purposes. Please be sure to bring a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and bug repellent if you desire.

SCG's Grow to Ride 4-H Summer Camp
was a Success!

It was an absolute pleasure being able to host our first ever 4-H half day summer camp for 14 youth! Staff and campers got to visit different farms in the Springfield area to learn about soil health, seed saving, plant propagation,

work-life balance, and different agricultural careers.

Not to mention build new friendships and experiences that they might not otherwise have the chance to enjoy.

If you appreciate giving underserved youth the opportunity to learn about agriculture, gardening, and the joys of eating healthy, local food, please consider making a donation to support our work!
