Millsap Farms Walk: Garden and Farm Layout

Weds. June 15th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm CST
(in person at 6593 Emu Ln, Springfield, MO 65803)

It can be overwhelming figuring out the ideal layout for your garden or farm. This workshop will explore considerations for designing a layout that maximizes your growing space and natural resources for production.

 

No registration is necessary for this in person event, however selecting 'Going' on the Facebook event is helpful for planning purposes. Please be sure to bring a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and bug repellent if you desire.

Growing and Enjoying Pawpaw and Persimmon

Missouri is blessed with many native fruits, but none as tasty and potentially profitable as the American Persimmon and Pawpaw. The class will discuss including persimmon and pawpaw in agroforestry and permaculture, selection of a good site for growing these trees, choosing the best cultivars, establishing orchards, growing the crop, potential challenges, harvest and postharvest handling, and marketing the delicious fruit. The instructor is University of Missouri Extension Horticulture Field Specialist Patrick Byers.

Enroll Your Child in SCG's Grow to Ride 4-H Club!

 

The Grow to Ride 4-H Club brings together youth aged 7-12 from economically challenged neighborhoods to develop personal responsibility through horsemanship, learn the importance of food sustainability, and provide service to their communities.

 

Join us for the first ever half-day summer camp taking place Monday, July 25 - Friday, July 29 from 9:00 am -1:00 pm daily, with drop off starting as early as 8:00 am. All participants must be enrolled in Greene County 4-H. The camp fee is $200 with scholarships available upon request.
